San Antonio Area Freeway System
PROJECT INFO: Northeast Loop 410

This page last updated April 19, 2010

Project locationLocation: Loop 410 from Nacogdoches Rd. to Austin Hwy.

Description: This project will widen Loop 410 from six to 10 lanes and revise most of the entrance and exit ramps in the project area.  A list of the significant changes is in the "Schematics" section below.

Purpose: Traffic volumes along this section of Loop 410 necessitate widening the freeway.

Timeline: Construction started in December 2006 and is scheduled to be completed in the 2nd quarter of 2010.  Click here for the latest status report on this project.

Schematics: Click on an image below to see full-sized schematics of this project.  Because of the size of this project, the schematic is broken-up into several sections.  The plans are courtesy of TxDOT and are subject to change.

Significant items of note:

  • Eastbound Loop 410
    • Exit for Nacogdoches moved further back closer to Broadway
    • Exit for Harry Wurzbach moved to just past Nacogdoches
    • Current exit to Harry Wurzbach changed to an entrance to Loop 410
    • Starcrest and Perrin-Beitel exits combined in same fashion as the Isom/Jones-Maltsberger exit on SB 281; traffic for Perrin-Beitel will pass under Starcrest on a collector road before joining access road
    • Turnaround added at Starcrest
    • Freeway narrows back to three lanes just past Starcrest
    • Current exit to Perrin-Beitel changed to an entrance to Loop 410
  • Westbound Loop 410
    • Freeway quickly widens from three to five lanes just past Perrin-Beitel
    • Turnaround added at Starcrest
    • Current entrance from Starcrest changed to a combined exit for Harry Wurzbach and Nacogdoches
    • Current exit to Harry Wurzbach changed to an entrance to Loop 410
    • Entrance from Harry Wurzbach moved back to before merge with westbound access road (i.e. traffic from Harry Wurzbach will directly enter Loop 410 without joining the access road first; there will be no entrance to Loop 410 from the westbound access road between Harry Wurzbach and Nacogdoches)
    • The original plan eliminated the entrance from Nacogdoches.  However, a subsequent change to the plans has restored this entrance.  The exit to Broadway has been moved further back to immediately past the Nacogdoches overpass to accommodate this change.  (See the updated schematic below for further details.)
