Location I-10 East from Foster Rd. to Graytown Rd.
Status Under construction (99% complete)
Description This project constructed a new overpass for I-10 at
Woodlake Parkway, is making intersection improvements at FM 1516 and at Loop
1604, adding turnarounds at Foster Road and at Loop 1604, relocating the
entrance and exit ramps in the area, and improving the
access roads in both directions and converting them to one-way operation. The cost of this project is $65.3 million.
This
project will not make any modifications to the I-10 main lanes (other
than the addition of the overpass at Woodlake.)
How
this
project will help Converting the access roads to one-way
operation will improve safety and increase capacity in this growing
corridor. Conversion of the access roads to one-way requires
a crossover between Foster Rd. and FM 1516 to reduce travel distance;
Woodlake Parkway is slated to become a through arterial to the north,
so it was the best location for this. The intersection
improvements and ramp relocations will improve safety and ready the
intersections for the anticipated increase in traffic.
Timeline Construction started in October 2016 and is expected to be
complete in late 2020.
